How to use my midi keyboard in fl studio

To create music in FL Studios, you need a midi keyboard controller, which allows sound control within the FL Studios program. The keyboard is used to program drum patterns as well as instrument patterns, and is easy to set up. Connect the USB cable to the midi keyboard and the other end into the USB port on the computer hard drive. Ever wish you could control FL Studio with a mobile device? Image-line Remote is a free app that does exactly that. It gives your mobile device the ability to use it as a MIDI controller. So if you ever wished you have a drum pad controller, MIDI keyboard, or wanted to use.

The MPK and MPD controllers are extremely versatile USB MIDI controllers. Whether you are looking for an all in one production setup with keys and pads or a more beat oriented workflow, the MPK and MPD controller series give the user as much creative potential as they can dream up. This guide will cover how to configure the MIDI setup in FL Studio for an MPK or MPD and how to MIDI map your controller in the software.

MIDI Mapping

FL Studio has a virtual instrument called the FPC that is very similar to the traditional MPC workflow. The user can load their own samples to the pads and then MIDI map the pads from MPK or MPD to trigger the FPC.

  1. To load the instrument, from the main menu bar go to Channels -> Add one -> FPC

  2. Click the pad on the FPC that will be mapped

  3. Click where the MIDI Note # is displayed in the FPC's upper right hand corner

  4. Click Learn

  5. Strike the pad on the MPK or MPD that will be mapped to the FPC. The MIDI Note # will change to the MIDI Note # of the assigned pad on the MPK or MPD
  6. Repeat until all 16 pads on the controller have been mapped!
